Self-assembled PAA-based nanoparticles as potential gene and protein delivery systems

A series of nanoparticles is prepared via layer-by-layer assembly of oppositely charged, synthetic biocompatible polyamidoamine polymers as potential carriers. Particle size, surface charge and internal chain mobility are quantified as a function of the polymer type and number of layers. The effect of addition of surfactant is examined to simulate the effects of nanoparticle dissolution. The cyctotoxicity of these particles (in epithelia and murine cell lines) are orders of magnitude lower than polyethyleneimine controls. The essay focuses on the ideological aspects and organizational dynamics underlying the 1968 protests in Italian universities. It analyses the inter-generational confrontation within the parties and in the wider public sphere in order to explain the new assembly-based organization in the Italian university. Young people in many countries demanded new spaces for a more direct political action; in Italy this would foster a change in the university representatives and parliamentary bodies which had so far mediated student participation. We propose another point of view on the type of hydrogen bonded complexes that were described in this journal (M. Olivari et al., New J. Chem., 2013, 37, 663). The main difference is the molecular geometry and breakage of the intramolecular hydrogen bond during association. The current comment is to highlight mentioned aspects and to point out that in some cases the interpretation may not be straightforward due to the simultaneous effects associated with complexation.

Chromosomes fold locally into topologically associating domains (TADs) defined by increased intra-domain chromatin contacts. TADs contribute to gene regulation by restricting chromatin interactions of regulatory sequences, such as enhancers, with their target genes. The sequence assembly of the human gut virome encounters several difficulties. A high proportion of human and bacterial matches is detected in purified viral samples. Viral DNA extraction results in a low DNA concentration, which does not reach the minimal limit required for sequencing library preparation. Therefore, the viromes are usually enriched by whole genome amplification, which is, however, prone to the development of chimeras and amplification bias. Polo-like kinase (PLK1) has been identified as a potential target for cancer treatment. Although a number of small molecules have been investigated as PLK1 inhibitors, many of which showed limited selectivity. AbstractInteraction between the transcription factors, hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF1α and HIF2α) and Sp1, mediates hypoxia-driven expression of FVII gene encoding coagulation factor VII (fVII) in ovarian clear cell carcinoma (CCC) cells.
